The New York Post reports that Moët's lawsuit is a move to stop what Moët says is false advertising from Brignac. Ads from Armand de Brignac reportedly say the brand's champagne is the number one champagne in the world. Where does that rating come from? Moët says that the rating is only for its flagship champagne, the Armand de Brignac Brut Gold (also known as the Ace of Spades). And that rating, from Fine Champagne magazine, was only for 2010. "Since then, Armand de Brignac’s Brut Gold champagne has fared much worse in that periodical’s testing, rated No. 23 in 2011 and and No. 22 in 2012," the Post quotes the court papers as saying.

Moët says that Armand de Brignac is misleading the consumers with its advertisements; either way, it's not stopping Armand de Brignac from becoming more popular. After all, it is Usain Bolt's champagne of choice.

Stir in the juice of the peeled fruit, tea and Maker's Mark Bourbon leaving the citrus peels in the bowl. Top the punch bowl with champagne just before serving. Stir gently. Ladle into serving glasses over ice and garnish with freshly grated nutmeg.

1/2 oz Moet & Chandon Champagne

Pour NOLET&rsquoS Silver, lemon juice, and Grand Marnier into a mixing glass with ice. Shake well. Strain into a Champagne flute. Top with Champagne. Garnish with a lemon twist.

20 ml Hysterie Liqueur-Passion Fruit, Curry Leaf, Turmeric Powder

30 ml Perrier-Jouet Grand Brut

Combine all ingredients together-Let rest overnight, coffee filter strain-Serve over ice block into a martini glass-Top up with Perrier-Jouet Champagne

Ingredients:

1 oz. Finlandia Grapefruit vodka

1/2 oz. St Germain Elderflower liqueur

2 oz chilled Q Grapefruit Mixer (Tony uses Q specifically for its VERY high carbonation levels and its drier, less sweet flavor profile &ndash it&rsquos sweetened with organic agave nectar rather than sugar or high fructose corn syrup)

In an ice-filled large wine glass add Finlandia Grapefruit and St Germain, stir to chill. Spritz with chilled Q Grapefruit and champagne, stir once. Garnish with white edible flowers and slices of Ruby Red grapefruit.

3 parts Jägermeister spritz batch

1½ parts Champagne/sparkling wine

Build in wine glass, add 5 or 6 ice cubes. Garnish with thyme, star anise, and orange zest.

6. Bisol Crede Prosecco di Valdobbiadene Brut

Named for the clay-laden soil on the steep vineyards where the grapes are grown, the Bisol achieves concentrated flavors of ripe melons and peaches while maintaining high acidity and freshness.

Appetizer Pairing: Duck Prosciutto

This duck version of prosciutto possesses intense earthy and gamy flavors, due to the blend of juniper berries, bay leaves, and smoked paprika. Thanks to Prosecco's melon and orchard-fruit flavors, this pairing becomes a completely umami experience.

This Prosecco—from grapes grown on a steep hillside, allowing for ripe flavors without a loss of energy—has the acidity to break up the crisp bitterness of the arugula and the ripeness to compete with cherries. Throw in the Parmigiano-Reggiano and you have a salty foil for this wine's cleaner minerality.


Champagne Cocktails

Unless you're making a drink where the flavor of the Champagne really matters (like the Classic Champagne Cocktail), generally, inexpensive alternatives such as Cava, Sekt, Prosecco or California sparkling wine work well.

Always pour the mixers in first, then top off with Champagne to avoid fizzy overflow.

Mimosa

This one's a brunch classic. Increase the flavor by using a 1:5 ratio of freshly-squeezed orange juice to Champagne. Then add a splash of triple sec.

Kir Royale
The fancy cousin to the made-with-white-wine Kir, the Kir Royale consists of a dash of creme de cassis (currant syrup), topped off with Champagne.

Bellini
Invented at Harry's Bar in Venice, the Bellini is best when made with ripe peaches. If peaches aren't in season, try creme de peche (peach syrup). Use a 1:4 ratio of syrup to prosecco.

Black Velvet
This is an easy and strangely delicious drink with a 4:1 ratio of Champagne to black Irish stout.

Death in the Afternoon
Traditionally made from absinthe, a spirit now illegal in the United States, in a 0.5:5 ratio to Champagne, you can probably substitute pastis or another anise-flavored liqueur.

Poinsettia

For a holiday brunch, make Poinsettias: a 1:4 ratio of triple sec to Champagne, with a splash of cranberry juice added for color.

Nelson's Blood
Named for the British Admiral George Nelson, this makes a great, if slightly morbid-sounding, party drink. The recipe calls for a 5:1 ratio of Champagne to tawny Port.

Moving on to the slightly more complicated ones.

Classic Champagne Cocktail
Soak a sugar cube in bitters, drop it into a flute, fill the flute with Champagne and garnish with a twist of lemon. This classic drink dates back to at least the mid-19th century.

French 75

There are a number of French 75 recipes floating around the only thing people agree on is that it's a serious drink with serious ramifications. Here's the classic: a splash of simple syrup, a bigger splash of lemon juice, an even bigger splash (about an ounce) of gin, topped off with a glassful of Champagne.

First of all, you may be wondering who the heck "Sweet Paul" is, in which case we're going wag our fingers at you. Because honestly, if you love food and all things holy, you need to familiarize yourself with Sweet Paul. This is a man to know and love, as you'll see in the video below. Variations of This Drink

While the classic is orange juice and champagne, there are many variations that I enjoy just as much. I may be a bit picky about having fresh-squeezed orange juice, but that doesn't mean I'm not willing to try different options to really kick my drink up a bit.

  • Mix 1 part champagne with ½ part orange juice and ½ part cranberry juice for a holiday mimosa.
  • Raspberry syrup mixed in also adds a nice refreshing berry flavor.
  • Fresh strawberry lemonade is another citrus drink that can work for a mimosa for a fun summertime choice.
  • Apple cider with champagne makes a fall-flavored mimosa that is delicious. A sprinkle of cinnamon adds an extra touch to this drink.
  • Mango nectar in place of orange juice is an excellent choice with a nice plate of huevos rancheros.
  • The ultimate in dessert drink comes when you mix pineapple juice, champagne, and a bit of heavy cream for a creamy version of an adult "Dole Whip". Kick it up another notch by replacing the cream with coconut cream for a pina colada flavor.
  • Beermosas are another idea for those who don't care for champagne or sparkling wine. Just substitute a favorite beer.
