Not one to pine for the latest trendy kitchen appliance—I still don’t get the Instant Pot hype, TBH—I had mixed feelings when my thoughtful parents gifted me an air fryer for Christmas. But all it took was one batch of perfectly crisp fingerlings to convert me. Potato-y perfection in 10 minutes on my first try? Sold.

“An air fryer is just so convenient and can help you whip up amazing meals in half the time,” Dalina Soto, M.A., R.D., bilingual dietitian and founder of Nutritiously Yours, tells SELF. It’s essentially a miniature, countertop convection oven that cooks your food both fast and evenly A.F. by circulating superhot air around it.

3. Chicken Drumsticks
A household favourite, mix crushed garlic, ½ tablespoon of mustard, 2 teaspoons of brown sugar, 1 tea spoon of chilli powder and one tablespoon of olive oil in a bowl and rub the drumsticks in the mixture. Leave to marinade for 20 minutes then place in a preheated air fryer at 200 degrees for 10 minutes. Adjust the temperature to 150 degrees for another 10 minutes until the chicken is cooked through. The results are moist and juicy chicken with crispy, spicy skin!

4. Quiche Lorraine
A more obscure option but equally delicious, making a quiche in an air fryer could not be easier. Line your ramekin with pastry (homemade or ready-made &ndash your choice!) and fill with the ingredients of your chosen quiche then place in the air fryer for 15 minutes at 150 degrees. You can either make one large quiche or mini ones, depending on the size of your ramekins and the air fryer basket.

5. Chocolate Cake
What better way to end all your previous fried goodness than with a chocolate cake, yes also prepared using the air fryer! Place the cake ingredients into an oven dish and into a preheated air fryer for 25 minutes, meanwhile make your favourite chocolate icing. Once the 25 minutes is up, prick the cake with a toothpick to ensure it&rsquos cooked, if it comes out sticky replace in the air fryer for another 5 minutes. Remove the cake and place on a plate, cover with the gooey icing and enjoy your air fried cake!

What size Kabobs Skewers fit in an Air Fryer?

It&rsquos important to check before you begin that the skewers you&rsquore using actually fit inside of your air fryer. We find 6-inch and 8-inch Skewers fit best in most air fryers. I suggest measuring the air fryer before ordering to be safe but you can not go wrong with the 6-inch as they are very short. If they do not fit that&rsquos more than fine you can just add the meat and veggies to the air fryer instead.
